USA Team Goes for Gold at WJAC

A team of USHL players has earned a spot in the gold-medal game of the 2012 World Junior A Challenge after claiming a 7-4 win against Switzerland in semifinal action.

Green Bay Gamblers teammates Alex Kile and Nicholas Schilkey gave the United States team a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the contest.  Vince Hinostroza (Waterloo Black Hawks) and Blake Heinrich (Sioux City Musketeers) also scored in the five-goal first period.

Schilkey added his second of the game in the second period while Hinostroza rounded out the scoring with his second goal of the night late in the third period.  Defenseman Ian Brady (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) collected three assists and Taylor Cammarata (Waterloo Black Hawks) had a pair of helpers.

Eamon McAdam (Waterloo Black Hawks) made 23 saves over the first two periods to capture his third win of the tournament.  Michael Bitzer (Lincoln Stars) played the third period and made nine saves.

The United States will now play Canada West in the championship game on Sunday.
